Access Control Setup

The Access Control area of the SnowCloud Operator App allows team members to encode and validate guest access by scanning their tickets or passes. In this article, we’ll walk you through the necessary prerequisites and steps to set up the Access Control app on your devices.

Prerequisites

Setup Requirements

Before encoding and validating tickets with the access control app, there are a few prerequisites:

  • Access Products have been configured.
  • Access Entitlements have been correctly configured to grant access to these products.
  • Access Locations have been created and configured. The specific location’s configuration will determine if scanning will validate tickets, or only provide information of the scanned guest.
  • Team Members have been invited, with the required Roles and Permissions for access validation.

Device Requirements

Most devices that meet the Operator App Device Requirements will be capable of running the Access Control app. However, there are a few additional requirements specific to access control functionality:

  • Functioning back camera.
  • NFC enabled device.
  • Stable Wi-Fi connection.

Setting Up the Access Control App

After these prerequisites have been met, set up within each phone is minimal, and entirely optional prior to usage.

  1. Login to the phone, using the same login you use for the web portal.

  2. Tap on the Access Control icon.

  3. Using the dropdown, select the access location for this device.

  4. Click on the Code icon in the bottom left corner. This will ensure that camera permissions have been given to the app.

  5. Configure any UHF scanning devices that will be used with this phone for validation.

For more information about UHF setup, see the UHF Setup article for further instructions.

  6. Log out of the app.

This phone is now set up, and ready to be used for access validation. For more information on how to use the Access Control functions, see our Access Control Usage guide for additional usage details.
