Configuring Activity Shops
Now that you’ve created your first product, let’s walk through the process of how to sell it. In this article, we’ll walk you through a few basic setup steps to configure and enable Activity Shops to sell products.
What We’ve Done So Far
In previous sections, we:
- Created an activity.
- Implemented an entitlement that grants access to an activity.
- Learned how to apply additional rules to an entitlement.
- Created an Access product.
- Modified our new product to grant an entitlement when purchased.
Now it’s time to put that all together into something tangible - a shop that customers can use to make purchases.
If you happened to skip any of these steps earlier, now is the time to go back and complete them before continuing. At a minimum, ensure that you have an activity and product to use.
Configuring an Activity Shop
Without further ado, let’s get started with configuring an Activity Shop.
-
If you haven’t already, start by logging into your SnowCloud account.
-
From within the left sidebar, click on Products, then under the Activity Products section, click on Activity Shops.
-
You should now see a list of your activity shops. Each shop reflects a different activity that you already created. In this example, since we created the Skiing activity, we should see a shop for Skiing listed on the page.
Let’s configure it by clicking on the pencil icon next to the shop name.
-
To keep things simple for now, we’ll focus on the necessities: menus and items.
- Menus are your top-level categories that will contain individual items (and their variations). For example, we could break things up into Lift Tickets, Lesson Packages, and Rentals as our top-level menus.
- Items Contain the separate products that will be sold within the shop. For example, if we had a Lift Tickets menu, we could have Single Day Lift Ticket, Two Day Lift Ticket, and Three Day Lift Ticket as items within it.
First, let’s create a menu. In the Menu section, click on the plus icon to add a new menu.
-
On this screen, we’ll configure our Title, Description, and an Image that will be displayed to customers when they view the shop.
All of these items will be displayed to users when accessing the shop. Therefore, it’s a good idea to use titles, descriptions, and images that are descriptive, with a marketing spin to help seal the deal.
After you’ve configured your menu, don’t forget to click the Save button, then return to the shop configuration screen.
-
Next, we’ll configure our items. Use the left half of the area to select the parent menu that will contain the item. Upon selecting a menu, the right side of the section will update to show any existing items within that menu.
To add a new item, click on the plus icon at the top right of your menu’s item list.
-
On this screen, we’ll select any items that we want to include within our menu. Since our menu is Lift Tickets, we’ll select the checkbox next to our Lift Ticket product, then click on the Select Items button.
If you don’t see any products listed, you may have missed a step in this guide. See the Creating Your First Product guide for more information on how to create one.
-
Now that we’ve populated our shop with a product, let’s make it available for use. To enable the activity shop, click on the Online/Offline toggle at the top-right of the page to set it to Online.
-
For our changes to take effect, be sure to click on the Save button after enabling your shop.
-
With our shop now online, let’s check it out! From within any page on SnowCloud, you can access your shop by clicking on the cart icon, located within the top navigation bar.
