Vouchers & Coupons
The Vouchers & Coupons allow you to view, create, and manage coupons and vouchers to give your products discounts. For clarity, we refer to a voucher as something that can be redeemed for a “free” product, whereas a coupon can be redeemed for a discount on a product that is less that 100% of the product’s value. This page is located under Marketing > Content Tools > Vouchers & Coupons.
Types of Coupons & Vouchers
Coupons & Vouchers have three core methods in which they can be redeemed: Multi-Use Promotional Codes, Single-Use Coupons, and Bulk Service Recovery. Each one functions in a slightly different way that is important to consider when configuring a new coupon or voucher.
Multi-Use Promotional Codes
A multi-use promotional code allows a code to be specified which multiple people can use to obtain a discount. A maximum uses limit can be placed on these to prevent one guest from using the promotion multiple times.
A coupon code that can be aired over the radio or in other marketing. A simple code, such as “SNOW10” could be used by anyone to receive 10% off their purchase.
Be careful using these, as anyone who knows the code will be able to use them. We recommend avoiding creating large discounts this way, as these codes could be shared around quickly.
Single Use Coupon
A single use coupon is a traditional coupon that has specific instances. SnowCloud provides tools for creating batches of randomly generated coupon codes, which can individually be claimed and redeemed. This coupon type can also be sent directly to a guest’s profile, similar to the Bulk Service Recovery Option
Bulk Service Recovery
A bulk service recovery type coupon or voucher is intended to be placed directly in a guest’s coupon wallet. Guests cannot obtain these promos by entering in coupon codes. Instead, team members can send these directly to a guest using their email address, or use different tools to select large groups of guests to send these promotions to.
A rain check discount, where guests who might have had a reservation canceled due to weather could receive a coupon (or voucher) for a future visit. Rather than needing to deal with coupon codes, bulk service recovery allows for putting this coupon directly in the purchaser’s account for a future time.
Discount Rules
Discount rules govern how a coupon or voucher will affect the prices of different products. They control:
- On what products or types of products a discount may apply to.
- How much to discount those products.
- At what times the holder of the coupon or voucher may use it.
Rule Types
- Discount specific items: Apply to individual products only.
- Discount specific item classifications: Apply to entire accounting classifications.
- Discount specific item groups: Apply to entire item groups.
- Discount specific item tags: Apply to products with specific tags.
- Discount specific item types: Apply to entire product types (Access, Rental, Lesson, F&B, Retail).
Discount Types
- Percentage off: Reduce the item’s cost by a percentage.
- Amount off: Reduce the item’s cost by a dollar amount.
- Override price: Set a fixed price (requires single-item coupon).
All discounts apply to the base price before taxes and fees. See the Charge Hierarchy for details.
Coupon Code Batches
For Single-Use Coupons, you can generate batches of random codes for distribution outside SnowCloud (physical coupons, marketing emails, etc.). Each batch tracks:
- Quantity: Total codes generated
- Available: Codes not yet claimed
- Claimed: Codes in guest wallets (includes used)
- Used: Codes redeemed in transactions
Coupon codes are 11 alphanumeric characters with a hyphen. They’re not case-sensitive. Letters O and I are never used to avoid confusion with 0 and 1.
