Operator App Device Requirements

To ensure the best experience when using the SnowCloud Operator App, it’s important to use a device that meets certain requirements. Below are the minimum and recommended specifications for devices running the app.

Minimum Device Requirements

iPhone (all roles)

  • Operating System: iOS 16 or later
  • Device Model: iPhone 8 or newer
  • Storage: At least 2 GB of free storage space

iPad (KDS only)

iPads can be used as dedicated Kitchen Display System (KDS) displays. POS sessions are iPhone-only.

  • Operating System: iPadOS 16 or later
  • Device Model: Any iPad supporting iPadOS 16 or later
  • Storage: At least 2 GB of free storage space

Using a device that meets or exceeds the recommended specifications will help ensure that you have a smooth and efficient experience with the SnowCloud Operator App.

We recommend the following specifications for optimal performance:

  • Operating System: iOS 18 or later
  • Storage: At least 2 GB of free storage space
  • Device Model: iPhone 11 or newer, ideally the latest generation models
  • Connectivity: Reliable Wi-Fi + 5G cellular connection for optimal performance
  • Battery Health: Devices with good battery health to ensure longer usage times during operations
  • Screen Size: Devices with larger screens (e.g., iPhone 12 Pro Max) for better visibility and ease of use

As a general rule, we recommend using the latest available iPhone models to ensure compatibility with future app updates and features.

Additional Considerations

Screen Size and Usability

While the app is designed to be responsive and functional across various screen sizes, using a device with a larger screen can enhance usability, especially for tasks that require detailed interaction.

For that reason, we recommend using iPhones with 6.5-inch or larger screens, such as the “Plus” and “Pro Max” models.

Software Updates and Security

While SnowCloud takes extensive measures to ensure the security of the Operator App, it’s important to use devices that receive regular security updates from Apple. Using the latest iOS version helps protect against vulnerabilities and ensures compatibility with the app.

Apple releases major iOS versions annually, and actively supports each major iOS version for about 2 years. We recommend only using devices that are capable of running an actively supported version of iOS to ensure you receive the latest security patches.
