Creating Access Entitlements
Access entitlements define what guests can access and when. Before you can create access products, you need to set up the entitlements that those products will grant. This guide walks you through creating a new access entitlement with rules.
For a complete overview of entitlement options and rule types, see the Access Entitlements Reference.
Creating an Access Entitlement
-
Click on Setup in the left sidebar.
-
Under the Access Products section, click on Access Entitlements.
-
You should now see a list of your existing access entitlements, if any.
-
Click the Plus icon at the top right of the page to open the entitlement creation form.
-
Select the Season for this entitlement from the dropdown.
-
Select the Activities this entitlement applies to.
We recommend always selecting activities, as it helps when searching for entitlements later.
-
Enter an Entitlement Title that describes the access being granted.
Good titles describe the use case or summarize the rules. For example: “Full Day Access”, “Season Pass with Blackouts”, or “Evening Only”.
-
Optionally, enter an Entitlement Description to provide additional context for your team.
-
Select the Default Scope to determine when the entitlement’s rules are evaluated:
- Between First and Last Use: Access must occur while validity window is open.
- Inventory Use Date Only: Access is valid only on the date purchased from inventory.
- Inventory Use Only: Used solely to pull from inventory counts.
-
Set the Default Uses to specify how many times the entitlement can be activated.
This is useful for multi-day passes where each day counts as one use.
-
Click Save to create the entitlement.
Adding Entitlement Rules
After saving, an Entitlement Rules section appears. Rules determine exactly when and where the entitlement grants access.
- Click the Plus icon in the upper right corner of the Entitlement Rules section.
- Select a Rule Type from the dropdown.
- Configure the rule’s specific parameters (dates, times, or locations).
- Click Save to add the rule.
You can add as many rules as needed. SnowCloud combines all rules to determine the final access restrictions.
Common Rule Combinations
Multi-Day Pass:
- Set Default Uses to the number of days
- Add “Valid between a start and end date” rule
Evening Ticket:
- Add “Valid from a specified start time” rule (e.g., 4:00 PM)
Season Pass with Blackout Dates:
- Add “Valid between a start and end date” for the season
- Add “Invalid on a specific date” for each blackout date
Location-Restricted Access:
- Add “Allow access at points” and select specific scan points
