Charge Hierarchy
The Charge Hierarchy is a visual representation of the steps taken in determining the price of a product after taxes, fees, and SnowPay service fees. It is located under Accounting > Accounting Setup > Charge Hierarchy.
Steps
A brief description of all steps taken in calculating the final price and GL account attributions are provided below.
The steps and hierarchy described on this page are the default. This hierarchy may be adjusted in certain circumstances.
#1 Base Price
The base price describes the price assigned on a product’s setup page. This is the price that will be advertised to guests.
#1-1 Calculated Package Allocation
This step does not change the final price of a product. This step is only taken for package products, where different portions of the overall price need to be attributed to different GL accounts.
#2 Discount
Percentage, amount off, and fixed pricing discounts are applied, before any taxes, fees, or SnowPay fees are calculated.
#3 Tax
Taxes that have been set up in a product’s classification will be applied here. If multiple taxes have been applied to the product classification, they will all be calculated and added to the total.
#3-1 Fee
Fees that have been set up in a product’s classification will be applied here. If multiple fees have been applied to the product classification, they will all be calculated and added to the total. Taxes calculated in step #3 are not included in this calculation. This step also does not include SnowPay fees.
#201, #202 Package Rounding Correction
This step adjusts for any rounding issues that arise when package allocations are split. It does not affect the total price of the product.
Last CC/SP Fees (consumer)
If the product’s classification is set to pass SnowPay fees to the consumer, the 5% SnowPay fee will be added to the total, producing the final price that the guest will pay.
Last CC/SP Fees (account)
If the product’s classification is set to include SnowPay fees in the total price, 5% of the total price from the previous steps is allocated to these fees. As opposed to using consumer SnowPay fees, this step will not change the total price.
